Several weeks ago I wrapped up the Moviegoer’s Guide to the Future podcast — a rather idiosyncratic (and hopefully engaging) journey through emerging technologies and their responsible development and use.
All episodes of the podcast are now available on the Future of Being Human substack, and with recent updates to the platform’s design, they look gorgeous.
However, rather irritatingly, they appear there in reverse chronological order — which is a challenge as they really should be listened to fro first episode to last.
So I fixed things!
Below, you can find links to every episode of the podcast — in the right order! Hopefully this makes the listening experience more enjoyable.
Of course, you may be asking why you would even start on such an audio journey — there are, after all, over 13 hours of audio here!

This is the easiest way to access the book Films from the Future for free! Not only do you get access to this unique audio version of the book, but the episode transcripts allow you to read it as well.
The podcast allows you to hear the book as it exists in my head. This may sound a little weird, but I write with a very specific internal voice, and as a result, there are nuances that come out when I read my work that you may not otherwise catch.
The podcast’s made for ears. If you’re a listener rather than a reader, the podcast is the perfect way to enjoy the book without all that tedious staring at pages.
It’s a really good deep dive into emerging tech and responsible innovation. OK, so I may be biased, but despite it’s title, The Moviegoer’s Guide to the Future is a surprisingly deep dive into the complex connections between emerging technologies and their responsible development and use.
It weaves disciplines and ideas together in ways that’ll hopefully inspire you. The big thing I set out to do with Films from the Future was to weave together a tapestry of ideas that draw on a myriad different disciplines to create a unique perspective on technology innovation and the future.
You’ll enjoy (re)visiting these movies. OK so there’s a spoiler alert here — the podcast summarizes each movie it covers, albeit in ways that fit in with the broader narrative. But my experience has been that this only makes the movies more interesting to watch!
It’s always a little uncomfortable suggesting people listen to your own work, but The Moviegoer’s Guide to the Future was meant to be listened to — there really wasn’t much point in me recording it otherwise.
